Do you have any fanny packs? Osamu and his wife went to the department store to find a fanny pack but they couldn't find it easily. They wanted to ask a salesperson but it was difficult to explain what they wanted in English. So they used hand gestures.

家内とデパートへ行って、腰に付ける少ししゃれた小物入れを探しました。なかなか見つかりません。店員さんに尋ねようと思ったのですが、いざ英語で説明するとなると難しいものがあります。結局、身振り手振りで意思を伝えることになりました。

腰に付ける小物入れのことを、日本ではウエストバッグということが多いのではないでしょうか。ところでワイキキなどでよく見かけるビニールやコットンで出来ているものを、私達は、funny pack と呼んでいます。funny とは、お尻を意味します。その他に、もう少し正式な呼び方として、waist bag 、あるいは、waist pouch があります。pouch についてはアウチ!/痛い(Ouch!) の発音の仕方を参考に、はっきり発音しないと通じないものと思います。
