Osamu and his wife went to a Chinese restaurant with their friends. The waitress brought out many big plates filled with delicious food. They wanted to take food from each big plate but didn't have extra plates. They were afraid to ask the waitress because she looked busy. At a Chinese restaurant, usually you will order a lot and then everyone takes from the middle. This is the custom. You should have a lot of plates on the table.
友人と中華レストランへ行きました。おいしそうな料理が大皿に盛られて、幾つも運ばれて来ました。それぞれを小皿に取り分けようとするのですが、うまくいきません。また、余分のお皿も欲しいと思うのですが、忙しく立ち働くウエイトレスを見て、いざ頼む段になると気後れがしました。
中華料理は肩肘張らずに、大勢がテーブルを囲みながら食べられるので、誰にも好まれる料理です。しかし中には食べ方が分からず、どのように盛り付けしてよいやら迷う場合もあります。また、へたに取り分けて、お皿やテーブルを汚したくないと思う時もあります。そんな時、遠慮なくウエイトレスに頼んでみて下さい。お客様に良いサービスを提供することによって良いチップを受け取る。アメリカのウエイトレスは、その道のプロですから。
