東日本大震災(東北地方太平洋沖地震)

電柱の揺れ見上ぐれば春の空
でんちゅうの ゆれ みあぐれば はるのそら

Japan Earthquake

An electric pole shakes
We look up to see
only the Spring sky

11日の午後、横浜市の東京電力の建物で、地震の講演をしているときに大きく揺れ始め、中庭に避難しました。

In the afternoon of the 11th when I was giving a lecture about earthquakes, inside the building of Tokyo Electric Power Company in Yokohama, the building shook violently. We sought refuge in a courtyard.

俳句

火を囲み津波の残せし雲丹を喰ふ
ひをかこみ つなみののこせし うにをくふ

A fire surrounded by people
who eat sea urchin
Left behind by the tsunami

雲丹が春の季語、仙台の名物です。気仙沼の牡蠣もだめになりました。

Uni (sea urchin) is a word for Spring. Sendai is famous for sea urchin. Well known oyster of Kesennuma is also decimated.

おおつなみ ここまでそじょう とりぐもり

The great tsunami
clambered inland
As if to reach the cloudy sky
