The goal of the NACOS project is fruitful communication. In other words, students will not be taught Japanese in the usual sense as students by an instructor, but rather, they will learn Japanese as equals as we work together to create feelings of having truly achieved fruitful communication.

In the beginning, students should not worry about their Japanese ability.

They will start be writing their own self-portrait. They will create this in their native language so they don't have to be constrained by their Japanese level. This self-portrait should be what they want to communicate about themselves to Japanese people. In other words, this is a preparation to communicate something of themselves and their personality without misunderstanding. This is a good way for them to get across their personal feelings.

At NACOS, students should have many good experiences communicating in Japanese. I wondered how they can keep the feelings created at NACOS in their daily lives. This would mean effortlessly weaving Japanese into their daily life and having a good relationship with the Japanese language for the rest of their lives. If one doesn't grow deep roots from the time and money invested in learning, it is a waste. It was from this idea that the NACOS project was developed.
