NACOS Application Procedure

Step One: Contact NACOS

Students wishing to attend NACOS contact us at least 2 weeks prior to the first day they wish to attend, either by e-mail, letter, fax, or telephone.

Step Two: Oral Interview

After making contact with NACOS, students have an oral interview with an instructor, either in person or by telephone. This interview allows the instructor to personalize the student's course to individual needs. At this time, the student is informed about the content of their class and given more information about Step Three.

Step Three: An Essay about Yourself

After NACOS interviews and accepts a student, the student is asked to write, in their native language, an essay about their background. Next, NACOS translates this 'Self Portrait' into Japanese. Because this will be a basis for their Japanese studies, it is recommended that the student write as much as possible about themselves, but only information that they feel comfortable sharing with others. The Self Portrait is later used as a tool for teaching vocabulary, phrases, and language structure. NACOS translates the Japanese version of the Self Portrait directly from the student's own words, so studying Japanese through this valuable, personal text enables the student to express their true feelings and present themselves accurately in Japanese.

Step Four: Tuition

All tuition and fees are paid in advance. NACOS accepts cash, traveller's checks, money orders, and personal checks. Make checks payable to: NACOS International Institute. Refer to the price list. Tuition is paid on or before the first class day of the month.

Textbooks

Students may require textbooks for the course in which they are enrolled. These are not included in the tuition fee.
