Scenarios: "I want to learn English because..."

Solutions: How NACOS Can Help.
I want to learn English because...

...I want to continue my studies.

I studied English in school and really enjoyed it. I want to continue my studies, but now I'm very busy. I have a job, I have children, and I have other responsibilities. So, I don't have time to study English. To study, I think I need to be very serious and take a class for at least 6 months or a year. I know that there are some programs where I can do an intensive study for a week or two. But, even though I might be able to take a week for vacation, I cannot spend the whole time studying English. There are other things that I want to do on my trip, not to mention things I need to do, like taking care of my children.

NACOS Solution: Weaving English into Your Life

...I want to master the English language.

I decided to seriously study English. I wanted to be able to communicate with Americans and maybe eventually pursue a career where I could use English. To get more exposure to the language, I started taking classes. I did well on tests and got good grades, but I became frustrated. It was easy to forget things I'd learned since I never used them. I could memorize things to say, but I couldn't even talk to my teachers about my feelings. Disappointed in myself, I resolved to study harder, but it didn' t help. I don't see how I can truly learn a language when my only connection to it is the classroom and a textbook.

NACOS Solution: Communication through Human Relationships

..I want to be able to use English in my business.

I know that English is very important in the business world. If I can become fluent, it will help my business and I will be more respected. My company values English communication skills, so they sent employees to an English seminar at an American university. I went and learned a lot. I managed to speak with my instructor in English, but I never got comfortable communicating with native speakers outside of the classroom.

NACOS Solution: English for Business

..I want to communicate with Americans.

I really wanted to be able to communicate in English, so I decided to concentrate on making American friends. I met some Americans and tried to get involved in activities with them. I spent time with Americans regularly, but I still had trouble communicating. I was encountering a lot of new English and had a chance to practice, but I couldn't always remember what I'd learned the day before. A lot of the time, I couldn't think fast enough to understand what was going on. I soon became very discouraged.
