| Letters from Students |
Dear NACOS, |
Thank you for sending me a letter and the album. During my staying at NACOS, I was so busy speaking English that I did not realize what I was doing or what was happening around me. But looking through the album gave me a clear picture of what I experienced at NACOS. I am getting used to my life in high school. In English class, we watch videos, in which American people are speaking English, and respond to the questions that our teacher asks. Because of NACOS, I am now used to listening to English. So, it is not difficult for me and sometimes I help my friends. I really think that I gained great things through NACOS! |

Dear NACOS, |
Thank you for taking care of my daughter. I received the album a few days ago. Once we opened the album, we could not stop asking questions to Nami. Looking at the pictures, my wife and I had so many questions. We questioned Nami so much and she got really tired... Even before the album came, Nami already told us a lot about her experience in Hawaii. But the pictures seemed to refresh her memory. She started talking about her story again. This time, she sounded really excited and her eyes were shining. My timid daughter was really worried at first about going to NACOS, since Hawaii is not Japan and people speak English there. But thanks to the warm-hearted care my daughter my daughter recieved, her worries diminished. She especially appreciates Ms. Rona. Since she does not have a sister, she always wanted to have one. Therefore, she trusted her like a sister and did her best. We also appreciate her. At first, she had hard time listening to English. But towards the end, she told us that English comes through her ear just like Japanese. I also appreciate her special experience through NACOS. She experienced the things that a tourist can not. Her first experience in a foreign country... Her first experience with English... Her first contact with foreigners, their lifestyle and way of thinking... It was only a short time but what she experienced means a lot to her. I guess this was the most memorable period so far in her life. She has been always interested in English. But under the Japanese education system, she hardly has the chance to touch real English. This time, I believe that she somehow overcame this problem. Thank you very much. |

Dear NACOS, |
How are you? I am doing good as usual. I am writing this letter to announce two big things. First, I was accepted to the Keisen Women's College. I will major in British and American culture. Now I am excited about my new life and am feeling very happy. Since I went to NACOS, my way of studying English has changed. Now I am thinking like this. . . I have to study not only English, but also the culture in which the language is spoken. And if I want to learn the culture, it is easier to learn through its language rather than through my native language, Japanese. I am excited because I can keep this attitude when I am studying British and American culture at college. I guess that college will be hard, but I will do my best. (I want to talk with everyone fluently in English!) Secondly, my parents and I are going to Hawaii for a week for my father's business. So, I want to see everyone I know in Hawaii. We are planning to visit NACOS on the 14th. Is it convenient for you? |
